ABOUT US
Painting Explorers is an art workshop for children age 6-15. Small groups (maximum 6 pupils) study in an artist’s environment with quality art materials and instruments.
During the Term classes, the children learn new techniques and develop their artistic skills through a variety of exercises and games. They work with different media in 2 and 3 dimensions using traditional as well as less conventional tools.

For example, when the session concentrates on observation of the human body, the children work on movement, “expression corporelle” (improvisation games and modelling), quick sketching, and drawing with two hands....
If the focus is on colour, they investigate the prism by relating families of colour to moods, or by making a painting with only complementary colours. During sketching they discover the subtle tones of earth pigments by drawing with sanguine (red chalk), sepia (brown chalk) as well as charcoal, graphite and pencil.

Alongside learning new techniques the children are encouraged to experiment with various types of paints and inks, to explore their imagination and concentrate on their own style.
Little by little, as they become familiar with the techniques, instruments and media, they integrate the difference between “observation” and “imagination” (how the one feeds the other), they improve their draftsmanship and become stronger colourists.

The Holiday Workshops are a unique experience giving the children a thrilling sense of creation. The children explore a theme using some of the tools & techniques described above.
