Spring & Summer Manga & Comics Workshops

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:42AM

Painting Explorers proposes a bran new series of workshops exploring Visual storytelling.

3 Workshops during which we will:

Create characters as a basis for story telling; this process encourages to investigate one's own mind, and how one engages with the world around.

Explore physicality; the investigation and depiction of body language and facial expression enables one to delve deeper into one's characters and depict feelings and/or situations in an economical and striking manner.

Connect ideas through integrating words and pictures as in Comic-strips; helping thus organising information clearly on a page, extract data, and editing.

Investigate composition and laying up of "shots"; which will set moods, give fluency and rhythm to visual storytelling.

Experiment with storytelling and scripting: investigating basic structures of stories , creating stories integrating images from existing Manga, interviews or photographs....

During these workshops, the students will experiment with life drawing, composition & colour, as well as learning how to draw the much loved Shoujo characters.
