MOVEMENTS & MARKS - creative life drawing workshops for teenagers

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 01:03PM

2 Creative Life drawing classes for teenagers who want to explore techniques for sketching the body in mouvement.

We will work with models from various physical backgrounds in dance, theatre and sports.
These classes are great for exploring the physicality of Manga & comic characters.

The workshops are an exploration of movement, rhythm and shapes through life drawing. The workshop present an opportunity to experiment with various mediums - pencil, chalks, ink and markers -  and simple techniques through guided exercises.

They combine straightforward life drawing with less conventional methods: like action drawing, improvisation and blind composition, quick sketching with both hands, working in pairs....

the session are done in music and participants interact with the model. They follow some simple movements, take the pose of the model, initiate the beginning of a movement to be continued by the model.

The process draws on Body memory, or recall, which is involved in the gestures we make when we draw, dance, and animate.
Working directly from the model and interacting with her/him , time and memory are linked with action in space. There is no time to be conscious of memory or to be saturated with negative inner dialogues.

Thu 5 & Thu 12 August, from 10 am to 1 pm
