We will explore composition, colour, backgrounds, and learn how to create the environement that will be the setting of the action, how to tell a story in a single picture, thus bringing our characters to life.

During this workshop, you will experiment with sketching from life at the Natural History Museum. You will then use your sketches and create drawings of your Fabulous Beast , before making a 3d model.

During the first workshop, on 12 & 13 December you will experiment with plaster and recycled material in order to create fabulous beings.
For the second workshop, on 19 & 20 December, you will look at animals, machines and magical traditional beings - fairies, gargoiles, unicorns, dragons.... and invent your own Modern Mythical MANGA CHARACTERS.

On the last day of the workshop, they were joined by a group of Mini Explorers masqued with the beautiful 'Animal spirits Masks' they had created during the first half of the term. Some Old Explorers, droped by to join what was a very merry party!

From sketching to adding the last coat of varnish, the last twinkle of glitter, experiment with simple 3D techniques and create wonderful sculptures in mixed media.
